Leave Conventions

TechAbout Pvt. Ltd · Human Resource Department

This policy sets out the conventions for applying for and taking leave at TechAbout. Because our Support Team operates around the clock to keep our customers happy, its rules differ from those that apply to the rest of the organisation. Both sets of conventions are detailed below.

Conventions of Taking Leave (Excluding Support Team)

These rules apply to all types of leave except sick leave:

  • One-day leave: You must apply 2 days in advance. Leave is granted only once the application has been approved first by your Team Leader and then by HR; otherwise it will not be granted.
  • Leave of more than one day: You must apply 7 days in advance. Leave is granted only once the application has been approved by your Team Leader and HR; otherwise it will not be granted.
  • Emergency leave: Emergencies can occur at any time. If you need emergency leave, you must contact the in-charge person on that day. That person will assess the reason for your leave, and if they decide it is justified, you will be given permission to take emergency leave. If the in-charge person does not grant the leave, it will be counted as unauthorised leave.
  • Unauthorised leave: For all unauthorised leave, 1.5 days of basic salary will be deducted.
  • Annual leave: You must apply 3 months in advance. Leave is granted only once the application has been approved by your Team Leader or supervisor; otherwise it will not be granted.
  • Medical leave: Medical emergencies are unavoidable and unfortunate. If you are on medical leave for more than 2 days, you must inform HR by submitting medical documents. Medical documents are handled under the Medical Leave Privacy & Records policy.

Last but not least: After any official vacation, you cannot take leave on the first day back. If an emergency occurs, you must attend that first day and then apply for the leave.

Support Team Leave Convention

Our customers are our top priority, which is why support is one of the most important aspects of our business. We now provide 24/7 support to our customers. If you are part of the Support Team, we rely on you to ensure our customers' satisfaction — and for that reason, the leave conventions for the Support Team differ from the general conventions.

These rules apply to all types of leave except medical leave:

  • Eid vacation: Support Team members are entitled to one Eid vacation. Which Eid a member receives the vacation for is determined by the Team Lead.
  • One-day leave: You must apply 3 days in advance. Leave is granted only once the application has been approved by the Team Leader and HR; otherwise it will not be granted.
  • Leave of more than one day: You must apply 10 days in advance. Leave is granted only once the application has been approved by your supervisor; otherwise it will not be granted.
  • Emergency leave: If you need emergency leave, you must contact the in-charge person on that day. If the in-charge person does not grant the leave, it will be counted as unauthorised leave.
  • Unauthorised leave: For all unauthorised leave, 1.5 days of basic salary will be deducted.
  • Annual leave: You must apply 3 months in advance. Leave is granted only once the application has been approved by the Team Leader and HR; otherwise it will not be granted.
  • Medical leave: If you are on medical leave for more than 2 days, you must submit medical documents to HR. Medical documents are handled under the Medical Leave Privacy & Records policy.
